I'll elaborate slightly on your pathway to making the change. (Note: GC seems to be really bad about caching stuff.) It had really piled up there in just a few days. When I ran CCleaner I found 356 MB of data in the Cache of GC & 24MB in GC Net History.
My thanks to all the others who were involved in this detective work. MANY THANKS for your persistent research and solution. Just one final question - is this actually a bug in since version did show Google Chrome files even with this option box checked? My sincere thanks to MrT, Alan_B and everyone else.
I hope this helps those of you who have a similar problem. The work-around for me is to simply leave this option unchecked in Google Chrome, as long as I'm using the new version of CCleaner. (see attachments I posted earlier in this thread). With version, even if this box is checked, CCleaner will show Google Chrome files and clean the browser. This behavior does not exist in the previous version of CCleaner. But, as I discovered on my computer, if the box is checked, CCleaner doesn't show any Google Chrome files at all. Unfortunately, having the box checked does not clear Google Chrome's history when you close the browser - CCleaner is needed for that. WILL SHOW all Google Chrome files after analyze and the browser will be cleaned. If this box is unchecked, the new version of CCleaner In Google Chrome options, under the hood, content settings - if the box next to "clear cookies and other site data when I close my browser" is checked,ĬCleaner WILL NOT SHOW any Google Chrome files after running analyze and it won't clean the browser. I have discovered the reason why the new version of CCleaner totally ignores Google Chrome on my W7 X64 computer. You now have a text file to attach with your next reply,Īnd this may detail exactly what the old "working" version can see but the latest "non-working" version ignores. Now select the results and right click and choose "Save to Text". Now double click to see the detailed results NOW ANALYZE with the "working" version and that will (hopefully) stipulate all the Chrome Junk the latest version ignores Now "Run Cleaner" with the "non-working" version so it removes all that it found upon analyze Now analyze with the "non-working" version and confirm that it cannot see any Chrome junk Launch them both BUT DO NOT RUN NOR EVEN ANALYZE YET Unzip the two CC versions into two different folders

I strongly suggest to Flaboy and anyone else who wants this fixing to implement a very simple test.ĭownload PORTABLE versions of both the latest "non-working" and the previous "working" versions of CC Įnsure you have some Chrome temp that needs removing, and that no part of Chrome is now running I did get a pop up asking Chrome to be closed when I had the browser opened, Not sure if pop up is consistent cuz I know the browser needs to be closed to run cleaner, but still didn't clean Chrome. guess I need to do a bit more research to determine if Chrome cleans quicker after running CCleaner or not. I still have to clean Chrome using Chrome tools even after running CCleaner.

go figure)Ĭould some of the Chrome junk be showing up in Windows Explorer-Thumbnail Cache? When I use Chrome to game,I have noticed that the WE-Thumbnail Cache KB found is higher than I ever noticed in previous version of CCleaner.

I will try uninstall new CCleaner & install previous version to see what happens & report results.(If I can get signed back into Piriform, ugh email not recognized as valid, but piriform sent 2 emails to me. I am using Vista Home Premium 32-bit OS(would not recommend it, ME was better than Vista).ĪMD Turion Dual-Core RM-72 2.10GHz with 3GB RAM.Ĭhrome 8.0.552.237 & Firefox (never open IE browser so not sure what version it is on)
